Jack Carrell
Registered Clinical Psychologist
Christchurch, New Zealand
About me
I'm a clinical psychologist with eight years' experience treating mental health difficulties. I worked four years at Hillmorton Hospital with Canterbury District Health Board (Te Whatu Ora), then moved to private practice in early 2022. I have particular expertise in anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and adult ADHD. I also specialise in trauma treatment using EMDR therapy. My client-centred approach creates a safe, compassionate environment where clients can express themselves, develop coping strategies, and work through their challenges.
Adult ADHD Assessments
Jack provides comprehensive psychological assessments for ADHD in adults. He offers both in person and online assessments.
Important changes to ADHD medication prescribing for 2026
From 1 February 2026, specially trained GPs and nurse practitioners will be able to assess, diagnose, and prescribe for adult ADHD. However, not all will offer this service, and it is not yet clear who will.
Recommendation for clients considering an ADHD assessment booking with Jack Carrell
It is recommended that you contact your GP/medical practice to confirm whether your GP can prescribe stimulant medication if you are diagnosed with ADHD by a clinical psychologist. Most GPs are accepting diagnoses of ADHD from clinical psychologists and will be willing to prescribe stimulant medication.
If your medical practice indicates that they will not be able to prescribe stimulant medications, you will need a private psychiatrist to prescribe medication after your assessment. Jack can refer you to one after your assessment if required.
Bookings are available up to 3 months in advance. If there are no spaces available in Jack’s booking calendar, try again in a few days, or in a week.
Assessments cost $1800 (GST Inclusive)
